I dont want to be a selfish parent!

Last night I had a conversation with hubby about our minah kumari. Hubby said to me this “kebelakangan ni, Aimee senang pulak nak ikut kita balik rumah eik?” FYI, before this, Aimee was so hard to be persuaded where never we said it was the time for us to go home from my in law’s place. As she heard her ayah ask her to salam everybody (read: means we are going home now), she will start to play with her toys or starts her tantrum immediately. At a time, she even say she want to stay at her onyang’s house (in law’s place) and ask us to go back without her… Sabar ajelah..

Actually I and hubby knew the reason why she doesn’t want to come home with us. She feels boring every time we took her home. That might makes her think that we were such a boring parents compared to her grandma and her grandpa, as they like to take her for an evening trip in a car everyday before we took her home, not like us who will just stay at home and never take her out especially on weekdays. To make it worst, every time we go back to our house, she doesn’t get the attention like what she gets at her onyang’s place. It’s only me and hubby who are so busy doing our house chores every time we get home. So, nobody to entertain her like what my in laws did.

Lately, when my morning sicknesses had gone, I can say almost everyday we take her out for dinner everywhere. So no more stay at home at night like what we usually do. So, I think, that makes her happier, because we spent most of our time entertaining her needs every time we took her out for dinner. No more doing house chores and neglecting her. We sometimes also took her window shopping at a mall which we think she love it so much! And I could read from her face expression, that’s the time where she really enjoy playing with us and running every where inside the mall.

You know, seeing her changes lately really makes me think that we were for sure such a boring type of parents. We have tortured her by asking her to stay at home like what we both like to do. We thought she might like it without making an experiment by taking her out to enjoy her toddlerhood. And if it’s not because of my weird eating appetite lately, we wouldn’t know or realize the mistake that we did in raising Aimee. And what makes me so worried is that, she might be blaming us in future for spoiling her childhood and call us selfish for not thinking and entertaining on her needs.

FYI, she is type of toddler who likes to go out and see more friends. She also likes to go out and meet with her families and relatives. She likes it when we bring her to a park, and she also enjoy her moment every time we bring her at any mall to see more people.

You see, we as a parent sometimes don’t understand our own child needs. We at a time sometimes so selfish thought that everything that we decide for them are the best and don’t think of tolerating. We only think of our exhaustion and our needs for resting. As a kid, they just don’t understand that we were working and tired. They don’t understand that we need rest after long hours of working at office. All that they knew is they need us to accompany them, entertain their needs for playing, to be pampered after leaving them from morning till late evening and to be always there for everything that happen in their life.

You know, raising a child could change our lifestyle drastically. Whether we like it or not, we have to follow our child’s life style. They are young and so enthusiastic to explore this world. They would like to know lot of things. To suit to their need, we as a parents have to sacrifice to make sure that they get the best that they should get from their parents. No more oversleeping, no more just stay at home and relaxing your butt and enjoy watching the tele too much. I couldn’t imagine when Aimee could really speak on her needy. I might expecting her to tell me that she wanna go there, wanna go to that place, wanna go on holiday at that place.. Oh my, I smell more exhausting yet enjoyable life in future by having kids in our life. And as I’m sure, I never feel regret having them (welll, you know that I’m expecting my 2nd one right?) in my life. I feel so grateful and pray that Allah will grant me the strength to go through all these with hubby, and pray that Allah also grant us an healthiness to enjoy the moment with them, insya Allah….

So bad of us for not realizing our girl is a big girl now!
